Maryam Barzegar Nasrabadi was born in 1988. She fell in love with drawing and poetry while growing up in Tehran. Maryam was always a top student. She completed an MA in Graphic Design at the Alzahra University in Tehran in 2015. Then she delved into an illustration by taking a four years course with the artist Abolfazl Hemmati Ahooee. Maryam learned how to paint and illustrate by studying the works of her favorite artists and by executing lots of paintings. She discovered what to paint by studying books on history, world mythology, Psychology, Individual Development, and family photo albums. Maryam paints both digitally and traditionally. She introduced her inspiration sources this way: “Kids, I’ve always been inspired by young children, I think turning to a mom was the prominent point of my life as an independent artist. I can’t ignore the important role of my son. I believe childhood is the most important era of everybody’s life so creating meaningful books for children and devoting time to them is precious and, as a result, we can have a happier and more successful generation”. Maryam never lost sight of her roots in the new world. Her cultural heritage and family ties remain influences in her work. Maryam hopes to continue her contemplation through art about our existence now and beyond.
